THE MUSICAL THEATRE NETWORK DEVELOPMENT AWARD IN COLLABORATION WITH CURVE, LEICESTER
Musical Theatre Network and Curve, Leicester are delighted to announce the launch of the first Musical Theatre Network Development Award which will be offered to an artist or company presenting new musical theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe.
This award is an exciting new opportunity designed to support individuals or organisations demonstrating real potential in the creation of new musical theatre.
One Development Award will be offered each year and the recipient(s) will receive a bursary of £1,500 from MTN together with a week’s worth development time and space provided by Curve. The bursary and support will be tailored to suit the recipient(s), who will also be provided with a mentor to support their development in the medium to long term.
Any professional artists presenting new musical theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe will be eligible to apply for this award.
Caroline Routh, Executive Producer for Musical Theatre Network, said: “Here at MTN we are particularly interested in finding those artists and companies advancing the artform and experimenting with the idea of what musical theatre can be. We really hope this award will help provide some space and time to encourage that experimentation, and are excited about the possibilities that our collaboration with Curve will create.”
Nikolai Foster, Artistic Director at Curve, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Musical Theatre Network on this award. We care passionately about the development of new musical theatre and hope this award will not only recognise the breadth of talent out there, but also help provide a way through which it can be supported.”
The first award will be made on 28 August 2015 at the Edinburgh Fringe.
