Host of new shows on sale this week
Curve is giving theatre-lovers a host of dates for their diaries with exciting new productions set to visit and open their UK tours at the theatre in Leicester this year and in 2022.
In accordance with the government road-map, Curve is set to fully re-open Thu 1 Jul, with plans soon to be revealed for a special socially distanced season of work from late May.
Once social distancing guidelines are eased, from 1 to 3 Jul, audiences can look forward to a brand new stage adaptation of Peter James’ Looking Good Dead and the theatre will also launch the UK tour of Mischief’s Magic Goes Wrong from 16 to 24 Jul. Further programming includes Priscilla, Queen of the Desert from 13 to 18 Sep, Derren Brown with Showman from 19 to 23 Oct and The Osmonds: A New Musical from 3 to 6 Feb 2022.
The acclaimed Made at Curve production of hit-musical Grease, which delighted audiences at the theatre in Christmas 2016 and toured across the UK and Ireland in 2019, is also set to open a new tour at the theatre Fri 30 and Sat 31 Jul. Directed by Curve’s Artistic Director Nikolai Foster, choreographed by Arlene Phillips and with brand new orchestrations by Curve Associate Artist Sarah Travis, Peter Andre will once again join the cast as Teen Angel and Vince Fontaine for one night only (Fri 30 Jul).
Olivier award-winning Mischief (The Play That Goes Wrong, BBC One’s The Goes Wrong Show) return to Curve with their biggest comedy catastrophe to date, Magic Goes Wrong, created with magic legends Penn & Teller. The show follows a hapless gang of magicians who are staging an evening of grand illusion to raise cash for charity. But as the magic turns to mayhem, accidents spiral out of control and so does their fundraising target! Having premiered in the West End to critical acclaim, the production will now head out on its first ever UK tour, opening at Curve in July.
Prepare for glitter and glamour in September as the joyous and award-winning musical Priscilla, Queen of the Desert returns to Curve 13 to 18 September. Featuring spectacular dance routines, a dazzling array of eye-popping costumes, and a scintillating, sing-a-long soundtrack full of your favourite dance-floor classics, including ‘Hot Stuff’, ‘It’s Raining Men’, ‘I Will Survive’, ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’, ‘Finally’ and many more.
Derren Brown returns to the stage with his first new live show in six years with Showman, coming to Curve Tue 19 – Sat 23 Oct. Whilst the show’s content remains a closely guarded secret, audiences can expect an astonishing treat from the multi-award winning master of mind control and illusion.
From 3 to 6 Feb 2022, relive one of the world’s biggest ever boybands in The Osmonds: A New Musical. Featuring a chart topping list of anthems including ‘Love Me For A Reason’, ‘Crazy Horses’ and ‘Puppy Love’, The Osmonds: A New Musical tells the official true story of the five brothers from Utah who were pushed into the spotlight as children and went on to create smash hits decade after decade.
To ensure audiences are able to safely enjoy a return to Curve, a number of Covid-Safe measures will be in place in accordance with the latest government guidance and Curve has been certified by both UK Theatre as part of its ‘See it Safely’ initiative and Visit England’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ accreditation. Audiences will be notified of Covid-safety measures and protocols in advance of attending a performance.
