DOG AUDITIONS ANNOUNCED FOR CURVE’S UPCOMING COMMUNITY PRODUCTION OF ANNIE

Mon 2 Jun 2014

Leicester’s Curve theatre is looking for loveable local dogs to play the role of Sandy in its forthcoming Community Production of heart-warming, family musical Annie.

Rehearsals are already well underway and director Paul Kerryson is now seeking a canine companion for his plucky orphan girl.

Successful dogs will join the talented company of local performers from across Leicester and Leicestershire to present the Tony Award-winning musical, opening on Saturday 26 July – Sunday 10 August.

Paul Kerryson commented:

“I am looking for dogs with shaggy, sandy-coloured fur to share the role of Sandy. We need a best friend for our Annie, so no diva pooches please! They will need to be extremely lovable, both on stage and off, and should be able to take the lead helping Annie on her quest to find a family. We have worked with several dogs in the past for Gypsy and Oliver!, and again this promises to be a memorable experience for both the dogs and their owners. Sandy is a really important role and has lots of scenes in the show, so we really need dogs who can put their best paw forward.”

The dogs and their owners will be required for rehearsals starting in early July and have to be available throughout the run of the show. Curve is looking to cast multiple dogs in the role to perform at alternate performances. Auditions are being held at Curve on Tuesday 10 June and Monday 16 June 2014.
