Curve named as a finalist in the 2012 VisitEngland Awards for excellence
Following Curve’s success in the Access for All Award at the Leicester and Leicestershire Tourism Awards in February 2012, the theatre has been named as a finalist in the samecategory of the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2012.
As a finalist, Curve will go forward to the glittering Awards Ceremony which is being held on 22 May 2012 at Athena, in the heart of Leicester’s Cultural Quarter.
Fiona Allan, Chief Executive of Curve said:
“We were thrilled that Curve recently won the Access for All Tourism award in the county’s Tourism Awards and very pleased to then be selected for VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2012.
Curve was designed as a very accessible building and the team work hard to ensure that everyone can enjoy performances and events here. We are delighted that all the work undertaken, from enhancing performances for those with impairments, to developing menus for those with dietary needs, has been recognised in this way as it helps us spread the word that Curve really is an accessible venue for all.
Leicester and Leicestershire have a fantastic tourism offer, which residents can be proud of, and it’s therefore fitting that these prestigious, national awards are being held in the city’s Cultural Quarter.”
Commenting on the finalists James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive said:
“I would like to congratulate all those nominated as VisitEngland Awards for Excellence finalists this year. This is no small achievement in a year when we have received a record number of submissions. The quality of submissions this year has been outstanding and Curve can justifiably take credit and pride in earning a place in the top 5 in their category in England. I wish everyone all the best for the final in May”.
All finalists are guaranteed to receive a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Highly Commended Award at the ceremony.
