Made at Curve Buddy Scheme

We are proud to officially launch our Made at Curve Buddy Scheme, generously sponsored by PPL PRS.

We realise some individuals may feel nervous or anxious about attending the theatre alone, especially if it’s your first visit with us. Having a Buddy enables audience members to enjoy any Made at Curve production with the comfort of knowing they have a Buddy nearby.

Anyone can request a Curve Buddy. A Buddy may be particularly useful for the elderly, people with neurodivergence, those living with Dementia, individuals with learning disabilities and other sensory or communication needs.

Our Buddies will all be trained in Safeguarding and Health and Safety, as well as completing full DBS disclosures. This is to ensure you are in safe hands and have the best experience with us during your visit to Curve.

 

How do I request a Buddy?

  • If you’d like to share your visit to Curve with a Buddy, please do let our Box Office team know when you make your booking. The best way to do this is by calling 0116 242 3595, emailing access@curvetheatre.co.uk, or by coming into Curve to speak to us in person and we will be happy to assist you.
  • Buddy requests should be with us at least two weeks prior to the performance or event, so we can let your Buddy know to be ready.
  • If there are any specific adjustments that will make your visit more comfortable, please detail these when requesting a Buddy, so we can ensure you have everything you need before your visit.
  • Once paired with a Buddy, you will pay for your ticket and your Buddy’s ticket will be covered by Curve and you will then meet your Buddy at Curve ahead of the show.

 

What will my Buddy do?

  • Your Buddy will meet you at Curve when you arrive and assist you with picking up your ticket if you haven’t already and find your seats together.
  • You will both then watch the show, and your Buddy will ensure you leave Curve safely after the performance.
  • Where there is an interval, your Buddy can help you locate refreshments, toilets and merchandise.
  • Your Buddy will not be able to assist you once in the toilet or be responsible for assisting you beyond the theatre, handling your money or paying for anything. They are there to help you enjoy your visit to Curve and to share the experience with you!
