Re-thinking queer activism for the 21st century

IT'S ALL RIGHT NOW?

Description

This year sees the 30th anniversary of the implementation of section 28 which encoded the discrimination of LGBT people in law on 24th May, 1988.

Professor Julie Fish (DMU) would like to open public discussion about the place of activism in the lives of LGBT people, particularly following the events of the past two years. Questions for discussion include:

  • How do we ‘do’ activism in times of regressive politics?
  • What kinds of activism are most effective?
  • What counts as activism?
  • Do we still need activism?
