Synopsis
“Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun of York”
As Edward IV is crowned King of England, nobody could imagine the events, the deceit and the struggle for power that would follow. For everyone underestimated the relentless ambition of his younger brother, Richard. Richard III, the future King of England.
One of Shakespeare‘s most famous works, the play follows the rise to power of this misunderstood young King. Treachery, passion and murder combine in the lead up to his bloody and violent death on the Bosworth battlefield in 1485.
Directed by Nikolai Foster, and featuring a hugely talented community cast, this dark, dynamic and visceral production will bring Richard III’s epic story to the stage.
Set in contemporary Russia, this new production offers a thrilling take on Shakespeare’s classic.
Please note: All performances of Richard III will be staged in a traverse style and all tickets will be unreserved.
This production features violent scenes, plus loud pyrotechnics, strobing and theatrical haze. If you have any questions, please contact Ticket Office on 0116 242 3595.
