CURVE SECURES ONGOING FUNDING FROM ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND AS NATIONAL PORTFOLIO ORGANISATION

This morning it has been announced that Curve, one of the UK’s leading producing theatres based in a Leicester, will receive ongoing funding from Arts Council England and remains as a National Portfolio Organisation.

The funding statement for 2018-22 was revealed and live-streamed from Curve at 10:30am. Over the next four years, Curve will receive £1.9million a year, a standstill amount.

Funding provided by Arts Council England enables organisations such as Curve to present exciting artistic work and opportunities for engagement to a wide range of communities across Leicester and Leicestershire. Future highlights at Curve include a Curve Young Company and community production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a dramatic adaption of Amana Fontanella-Khan’s Pink Sari Revolution and Leslie Bricusse’s Christmas musical Scrooge.

Responding to the news, Curve’s Chief Executive Chris Stafford said:
“We are delighted to secure ongoing funding as a National Portfolio Organisation from Arts Council England. This instrumental support will enable us to build on our success and ensure we continue to make and programme work of the highest quality and ambition for everyone who lives, learns and works in this terrific city and beyond.

“I would like to thank Arts Council England and also Leicester City Council for their continued support of Curve.”

Governed by an executive board and national and area councils, Arts Council England is an organisation which aims to champion and develop art and culture across the country.
