Join us on Saturday 19th October for our FREE Black History Month Community Day from 12pm – 4pm.

You’ll find an exciting selection of free events and activities taking place across the building, led by local Black artists and practitioners. We have a brilliant line up on our live foyer stage including stunning performances from Marcus Joseph, Delores McIntosh, Lady Affirmation and Spoken Word from Boston The Orator.

With free drama workshops from Joanne Alexander from Can’t Blame Da Youth and dance workshops with Angela O’Neill from Angel Dance Academy, as well as free storytelling, arts and crafts activities on the mezzanine led by Roots & Play.

There’s something for everyone to enjoy – for all ages – bring friends and family to join in the fun and mark Black History Month with us!

Our Foyer stage will be showcasing exciting work throughout the day, see the full line-up below:

Marcus Joseph – 12.05pm – 12.50pm 

Marcus Joseph is a versatile musician and spoken word artist known for blending jazz, hip-hop, and reggae influences. With performances at major festivals and airplay on Jazz FM and BBC Radio 3, Marcus’ work reflects his passion for Black music’s rich history, blending original compositions with powerful tributes. 

 

Delores McIntosh – 12.50- 1.35pm  

Delores McIntosh is a jazz vocalist and will be performing Jazz standards of the 1920-50s 

 

Dulzo The Great – 1.35pm – 2.20pm 

Dulzo The Great Is a performer who loves audience participation as he loves to provide value to people. As an artist he aims to make songs that represent his character and his feelings during that time with the goal of connecting with likeminded individuals. 

 

Imani Wenham – 2.20pm – 2.50pm  

Imani Wenham is a local creative, poet and producer who will be sharing her poems on the foyer stage. Experience an electrifying exploration of Black identity through poetry and storytelling. This performance celebrates resilience, joy, and cultural heritage, weaving personal narratives with collective history. A vibrant tribute to freedom, self-love, and the beauty of Blackness in all its forms. 

 

Lady Affirmation – 2.50pm – 3.50pm 

LADY AFFIRMATION, a Pianist, Singer, Songwriter and Poet, born with the purpose to help others through music, will be a healing experience of true, heartfelt original music and a few covers, expressing a perspective of love, trials, challenges, faith and God. Join her journey as she shines a light into a world that is harsh, dark and in need of some powerful Affirmations.
