Is He Musical?

MP Theatricals presents a concert-style staging of Curve Resident Creative Jude Taylor‘s four star one-act musical comedy, Is He Musical?.

As 1933 draws to a close, aspiring concert pianist Laurence finds himself welcomed into the hidden gay world of London’s West End by the charismatic and ever-so-popular Wilfred. What follows is a whirlwind of fabulously indulgent evenings at The Trocadero with their fellow queer friends.

Yet beneath the glamour and the glitz Wilfred battles with identity and belonging in a struggle to claim the domestic life they’ve always longed for, and Laurence’s allegiances to the Trocadero clique are tested as he discovers a very different kind of scene down at the newly-opened Caravan Club.

And when external unseen forces growing in the shadows of society further threatens their piece of the world, they begin to question how long their free and easy lives can truly last – and if the strength of the sisterhood can survive through time.

Inspired by the true stories of the queer friends who loved, lived and partied across 1930s London, Is He Musical? is an intimate and joyous one-act musical comedy set to live music reminiscent of the era.
