Curve Young Community Company

Curve Young Community Company

Our Curve Young Community Company (CYCC) is for young people aged 5 – 19 years with an interest and passion for performing arts.

Our members meet regularly at Curve to develop their skills, have fun, make new friends, and develop their understanding of the industry alongside professional artists and creative teams. Participants also have the opportunity to perform on our stages in productions and be involved in special events at Curve and as part of our Made at Curve productions. Our Curve Youth and Community Companies (CYCC) are open to all and there are opportunities for every level of experience. This year we extended our opportunities to reach a diverse range of young people from Leicester, including offering even more free bursaries.

Commitment to Diversity

We welcome applications from all young people and are keen to extend our intake from people living in the city of Leicester and people from Black, Asian and Ethnic minority backgrounds.

If you have any questions or would like to speak with our team, please email CYCC@curvetheatre.co.uk.

Applications for CYCC are now closed for the year but will reopen in 2025.

For school years 10 - 13
CYCC Tech takes place in the Autumn term for 10 weeks. It will cover all the basics of technical production and theatre making. Led by Industry Professionals, the course will give an insight into:
  • Set
  • Lighting
  • Sound
  • Costumes and props
  • Automation
  • Collaborating as part of a creative production team
  • And the opportunity to work with the professional creatives who are work on the Made At Curve shows.
Participants must be in School Year 9 – 13

“Curve is my favourite place – like a second home and I have so much fun. I have really developed as a performer and I know that I have learnt a lot about theatre and performing which will help me in life.”

— Isaac Hart, CYCC Member

“Curve was the first place where I felt like a professional despite my young age. Through CYC team has nurtured my talents, and has really pushed me with challenges to exceed my “limits”. Curve is one of the main reasons why my confidence has grown dramatically since my first project at Curve.”

— Kirsty Mealing, CYCC Member
