Synopsis
What does a sari mean to you?
Do you even wear one? If not, why?
How do you drape your sari and what does it say about you?
Whose Sari Now? is a funny and poignant journey of one sari in the lives of the many characters who wear it. Performed by Rani Moorthy, the play examines the intriguing relationships we have with the sari from the personal to political to myths and traditions.
A Sari Tale
The sari is both timeless and contemporary. Traditional yet political. Draped simply or tied in the most complex folds possible. Mysterious and feminine and yet everyday and practical. The sari in all its contradictions has limitless possibilities and endless stories. A Sari Tale captures some of those stories between daughters and mothers and fathers and daughters and so on.
